Location

Cross Ash is located on the B4521 Ross-on-Wye to Abergavenny road, some six miles north east of Abergavenny. The River Monnow, forming the border with England here, passes close by.

History and amenities

Cross Ash is situated in the heart of deepest Monmouthshire [1] in a very rural location [2]. Nearby are the three castles of Gwent, White Castle, Skenfrith Castle and Grosmont Castle with their accompanying villages.

The Welsh language name, Croes Onnen, is a translation of the English language name.[1] In 2011 Cross Ash was one of two villages in Monmouthshire to have the Welsh name of the village removed from the local road signs in response to a protest by villagers.[2]
